ODDS AND ENDS

By JERRY JUSCZYK

The ignorance of local personalities continues to pollute the air waves. First, Dorothy puts her foot in her mouth and now Gary Dee of country music station WHK is reported to have said, "What a joke it would be to have homosexuals in the Air Force. Instead of fighting and carrying guns, they'd probably be playing leap frog."

A PD Action Tab feature recently claimed that the gay scene will be heavily represented in the scheme of movies to come. Paul Newman will appear in The Front Runner as a college coach who falls in love with his track star, played by Richard (John Boy Walton) Thomas. Al Pacino is also getting involved in the gay experience in Warner Bros. Dog Day Afternoon, based on the New York robbery staged by a man seeking finances for his boyfriend's sex-change surgery. Also in the works is a film adaptation of the stage play, "The Ritz" whose action centers around a gay bathhouse....

Speaking of movies, many grateful returns to the Festival Theatre for A Very Natural Thing. Now if we could only land Saturday Night At The Baths ... Also, thank you Bayou for Michael Greer. Cleveland really is becoming a hot gay town...

Rumors abound that a new gay bar-dinner lounge in the Settler's Landing vicinity is close to opening. Could This Be It?... The gay social scene in Cleveland is exploding, but where are Larry, Richard, Marc, Marsha, Edward, Paul, Bob, Nancy, Randy, and the rest of you?...

The Tubes are coming to town October 17th. Campy and outrageous, the San Francisco crazies' theatrical performance is about the most bizarre one presently going down in rock. Their repertoire includes a vivid "Mondo Bondage". Tickets are available through Belkin outlets.

People magazine informs us that when David Bowie was asked how he met his wife, Angie, he nonchalantly replied, "We were involved with the same man." ... How chic...

Rolling Stone's October 9th issue is almost exclusively devoted to men and their sexuality. Included are features on gender tampering, The Adyocate, and individual confessions of sexual development...

If this year's Halloween costume ball at Twiggy's Place is anything like last year's, it will be the event of the year... Going out west for goblin festivities? If you are, stop in at the P.R.O. Ball in Toledo, Ohio: Sponsored by The Toledo Gay Business Alliance, this year's ball has as its theme, Silver Screen Stars Visit The Seventies. Admission is $4.75 in advance and $5.00 at the door. Andy Warhol's Interview quotes Jack Ford (as in the President's son) as saying: "(New York's gay club) Le Jardin didn't bother me. The only

thing that was particularly amusing to me was dancing with Bianca (Jagger) and a fellow came up to me, tapped me on the shoulder and said, 'May I dance?,' and I thought he wanted to dance with Bianca. He wanted to dance with me!" Open your eyes, Jack, open your eyes....

It's baffling that through the duration of the Matlovich, trial, The Plain Dealer kept placing the word "gay" in quotes. How come we don't see "black", or "Ms."?....

September 29th's All in the Family had Archie Bunker giving a transvestite mouth-tomouth resucitation Ah, the times really are a' changing... Well, friends and foes, that's all of this month's media trip-ping, but come on now, will you tell me what all this Gleichgeschlechtlich business is?
